Research

During the establishment of the Equality Watch Centre, a stakeholder and needs analysis research based on its target groups – civil society organisations (CSOs), Bar Association Commissions and Centres, academics, activists, and rights defenders – will be carried out. This research will be used to design the content of the Centre’s activities and its priority areas.

The results of the research will be published simultaneously with the launch of the Equality Monitoring Centre.

Monitoring and Reporting

Equality Watch Centre, together with its board and stakeholders will continue monitoring discrimination in Turkey through data collection, monitoring and reporting.

The findings of monitoring activities will be shared periodically through reports, briefs and other content published on the website. The Centre will also collect data through the decisions and activities of judicial and quasi-judicial mechanisms at the national level, as well as through the decisions, reports, recommendations and guidelines issued by international human rights mechanisms. Monitoring reports focusing on National Human Rights Institutions (NHRI) will also be published on the website.

Campaigns

The Equality Watch Centre will carry out small scale campaigns as well as creating informative videos, legal support hotline and redress mechanisms concerning discrimination. The Centre will also have a short podcast series.

Meetings

The international network to be established under the coordination of the Equality Watch Centre aims to bring together many stakeholders such as CSOs, rights defenders, lawyers and academics, to share best practices and experiences in the international arena and to carry out advocacy activities jointly. Network members will meet online and offline to engage in joint advocacy, reporting and campaigning activities to combat discrimination.

Policy Recommendations

The Equality Watch Centre also carries out its activities with the aim of creating policy recommendations for the implementation of the prohibition of discrimination and to support effective functioning of NHRIs in Turkey. Data collection, monitoring and reporting activities, applications on rights violations, feedback received from stakeholders, research and capacity building activities will ultimately be used to produce policy recommendations for the development of NHRIs in line with international standards and for them to become effective actors in the fight against discrimination.

Guidelines and Handbooks

To increase the effectiveness of the applications directed by CSOs, lawyers, relevant Commissions or Centres of Bar Associations a Guidebook on Working with NHRIs and a tool for monitoring NHRIs will be published. These materials will also be published as E-Modules on the Equal Campus platform.
